Company description

ACM Shipping Group plc is engaged in ship broking and related activities in the shipping business. The Company provides integrated solutions for worldwide industrial transportation. The portfolio includes spot/period chartering, sale and purchase, new buildings and demolition. The Company's services spot brokerage, time charter brokerage, derivatives brokerage, research, dry cargo, sales and purchase brokerage, and operations. The Company's sales and purchase brokerage include second hand ships, new builds and demolitions. The Company's time charter business is involved in the long-term hire of tankers. The Company's spot brokerage desk is engaged the hire of a ship for a single voyage. The Company has an established joint venture with GFI Group, Inc. (GFI) to conduct derivative brokerage. The holding of interest in ACM Shipping Dry Cargo Limited increased from 60% to 75% on February 20, 2012.

Employee ownership description

ACM was admitted to AIM in December 2006. Before admission, ACM had typically paid 100% of operating profit in bonuses to employees. Following admission, this percentage reduced to 50%, with employee shareholders benefiting from a dividend. On admission to AIM, employees including directors owned 70% of the equity (source: admission document). The March 2008 accounts show substantial shareholdings by ten employees totalling 45.9%. The March 2012 accounts show substantial shareholdings by five employees totaling 23.9%. Adding employee shareholdings smaller than 3% may increase substantially the total percentage employee owned.
